Art For Kids

Here are a few fun ideas to keep your little artists busy for a while!...

Make your own playdough, its cheap, easy and fun to do!...

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 1/4 cup salt
  • food coloring

Mix all the ingredients together, adding the food colouring last. Then move the mixture to a pan and stir over medium heat until mixture begins to take form. Remove from pan and knead until it is blended smooth. Place in plastic bag or airtight container when cooled. Playdough will last a long time as long as it is kept in an airtight container when it is not in use.

Make a Collage...

There are so many fun ways to make a collage, collect shells from the beach/ twigs and leaves, add some coloured tissue paper, pipe cleaners, fabric and get creating!

Potato Stamps...

Find yourself a nice big potato and cut it in 2. Use the knife to cut a basic 3d shape into the sliced potato, for example a star. Now all you have to do is dip the potato stamp into a plate of paint and press it on to some paper. Make 2 stamps, 1 on each side of the potato. Its great fun making potato stamp pictures!

Painting Hands & Feet...

You can do this either on normal sheets of paper, or if you want to be really arty; try it on a stretched cotton canvas! Pick out a few nice bright colours, paint them onto your little artists hands or feet and get them to press onto/ walk over the canvas. Its really effective. The end result from this could be so good you end up hanging it on the wall!
